When I first arrived to Rachel, population 50, I stopped into the Little A'Le'Inn (the only place to grab a bite to eat, find lodging, and souvenirs for miles on end) They informed me of the wherabouts to Groom Lake and the actual armed guarded gates at the top secret area's entrance. Thank you so much Bob for making my husbands wildest dreams come through and for giving us a truly wonderful day. I can not recommend this tour enough even if you’re in no way interested in aliens but your partner is, go with them and learn loads about the local areas but make sure your guide is Bob!! He will keep you laughing all day long with his wild jokes and crazy antics. The scenery is breathtaking and with Bobs amazing information on it all you really take it all in. Bob REALLY knows his stuff and not just alien stuff either, he could tell us all about the local history and wildlife the whole way out to the base and back again. Our guide was Bob and from the second he stepped out of his truck he was such a gentleman, he kept making sure through out the day that we had enough water and regular stops for bathroom facilities etc. I myself am a non believer was dragged along thinking it would be the worst day of my life but boy was I wrong. My husband is completely obsessed with everything alien and ufo related so for his birthday we booked this tour. Be safe, be legal, and enjoy and appreciate the experience. Crossing the boundary, even briefly, can result in being held at gunpoint and being hit with a hefty fine. However, if you have an appreciation for the legacy and aura of secrecy that surrounds this facility, it makes for a very exciting experience.īe smart and respectful of the boundaries and stay on the right side of the law while you're out there. There is literally nothing to do here other than to observe the iconic security facilities that guard the entrance. Visiting the "Back Gate" from Rachel is your safest bet as it is clearly marked and not possible for you to accidentally cross. ![]() Aimlessly driving down roads in search of this facility can easily result in accidentally crossing the boundary line and landing you in trouble. ![]() Research ahead of time and know where you're going. It's about a two-hour drive through the desert to get here and you should heed the warnings of filling up on gas while it's available. If you're in Las Vegas, it's worth the drive to visit this iconic location. This review is for the legendary "secret" US military installation and not the diner in Rachel which seems to be the subject of many reviews on here.
